3 Tips for Sleeping Better on the Airplane

on

Long flights can be exhausting, especially when you need to stay refreshed and ready to go upon landing. Getting quality sleep on an airplane is often challenging due to the cramped seating, cabin pressure, and general environment. However, with the right strategies, you can improve your chances of catching some beneficial Z’s while flying. Here are three tips for sleeping better on your next flight.

Choose Your Seat Wisely

If possible, opt for a window seat, which not only allows you to control the window shade but also provides a surface to lean against. Avoid seats near the bathrooms or galley areas, as foot traffic and noise can be disruptive.

Create a Comfortable Environment

Making your seat as comfortable as possible will aid in falling asleep. Bring a travel pillow to support your neck and a lightweight blanket or large scarf to stay warm, as cabins can get chilly. An eye mask can block out cabin lights, and noise-canceling headphones or earplugs can help mute the sounds of the engine and fellow passengers.

Prepare Your Body

Your pre-flight and in-flight routines can significantly impact your ability to sleep. Avoid large meals and caffeine before and during the flight as they can keep you awake. Instead, opt for light snacks and water to stay hydrated.
