After her corporate job at Google left her empty and uninspired, Catarina Mello decided to make a huge change. She left it all behind to travel the world, and found success as a travel blogger after deciding to pursue her passion and share her adventures under the moniker “Professional Traveler”.
After getting an engineering degree, Mello decided to follow a “traditional path” and her life looked perfect on paper. She was steadily climbing the corporate ladder after getting a job at Google, but developing online marketing strategies for one of the world’s biggest companies didn’t make her happy.
She felt suffocated living out someone else’s dream, but something clicked after she took a trip to Bali that made her realize that traveling the world was her true purpose.
“I needed time to clear my mind so I took a much-needed escape from the daily grind to relax in Bali for a 10-day trip. I felt alive and inspired every day I was there and I wanted to feel that same way when I woke up every day, no matter where in the world I was,” she explained on her official website.
Mello used her background as a marketing executive to build a successful social media platform, with over 500,000 Instagram followers and counting, and this made it possible to travel the world full-time.
