Blast off to infinity and beyond this starting this summer because Toy Story Land is coming to the one, the only – Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. Starting June 30, Disney World’s Hollywood Studios park will be opening its latest edition, Toy Story Land. The big news was revealed when Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and Slinky Dog stopped by Good Morning America for a quick visit.
Inspired by Pixar’s Toy Story films, Toy Story Land will feature a Slinky Dog Dash family-friendly rollercoaster and the twirly Alien Swirling Saucers ride based on Sid’s favorite game “The Claw,” featured at pizza planet. Other main features include an expanded version of 3D-shooting ride Toy Story Mania!, featuring three tracks as well as a walk up window that will serve food and refreshments out of Woody’s lunchbox.
The land will also be filled with giant Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, lampposts shaped like towering Tinkertoys, and other attractions that celebrate the Toy Story movies. Toy Story Land promises to “transport guests into the adventurous outdoors of Andy’s backyard.” Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, recently said, “With set pieces, staging, attractions and experiences Toy Story Land represents the best of Walt Disney Imagineering’s collaboration with our storytelling partners at Pixar Animation Studios.”
Disney is also planning on launching a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed roller coaster – “one of the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters” – at EPCOT’s Future World.
The ride is expected to open in 2021, while Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently opened its Avatar-based world of Pandora attraction last year.
