Elton John’s ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ Tour

After more than half a century on the road, English singer, pianist, and composer Elton John has announced via an exclusive VR180 Live Stream on YouTube, details of his final tour called ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’. In the Live Stream, Elton revealed the tour would take 3 years to complete, beginning in Pennsylvania in September of 2018. Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will consist of more than 300 shows across five continents, hitting North America, Europe and the Middle East, Asia, South America and Australasia before reaching its conclusion in 2021.

Elton revealed, “After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”

The outspoken LGBT rights advocate said he still intends to to record albums, write music, produce movies and write musicals, and may “never retire”. Elton’s health scare in the previous year “played into his decision” to step back from touring.

The star confessed, “My body isn’t invincible, I have to respect it and treat it more kindly, and chopping out those air miles can’t hurt.” Elton has teased his fans about about his upcoming tour costumes. For the farewell tour costumes, which are exclusively designed by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, the 71-year-old happily referenced his style throughout his career. “I’ve kept an archive of my stage costumes from the very beginning of my career and thought it would be fun to open up my little treasure chest with Alessandro and his design team,” he revealed.

“Performing live fuels me and I’m ecstatic and humbled to continue to play to audiences across the globe. I plan to bring the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades to my final tour.”
