on

Australia is one of the most popular travel destinations across the world. It’s a huge country with a wonderful range of different landscapes that offer the best possible experiences for nature and wildlife lovers. While the abundance and diversity of wildlife are generally fantastic across Australia, particular areas offer the most jaw-dropping interactions with this exciting wildlife.

Great Barrier Reef, Queensland

This unbelievable feat of nature is famous across the globe and for good reason. This underwater realm is truly like something from another world, with the most stunning corals and plant life, let alone the animal life they support. You’ll find endless companies offering a variety of tours of this stunning offshore habitat.

Kangaroo Island, South Australia

This large island is a 45-minute ferry trip off the coast of mainland Australia and is a haven for some lovely wildlife. Of course, there are plenty of kangaroos here, but there’s also a huge range of bird species, rare wallabies, cute seals, impressive sea lions, and the enormous and terrifying monitor lizards, known locally as goannas.

Daintree Rainforest, Queensland

The oldest rainforest in the world, this incredible ecosystem is home to some truly fascinating creatures. It contains a huge proportion of the country’s bat, butterfly, frog, marsupial, and reptile species, including super rare ones not found elsewhere. River ferries can also give you excellent sights of huge saltwater crocodiles from a safe distance.
