“Lonely Planet” Unveils Its Annual List of the Top 2025 Destinations

2025 is still two months away, but travel trend predictions for the next year are showing up everywhere. Lonely Planet is one of the leaders in the world of tourism, and they finally shared the highly-anticipated list of the cities, countries, and regions worth visiting in 2025.

Everyone’s favorite guidebook welcomes each new year with its annual list of the top travel destinations, and 2025 will be no exception. The 15th edition of its best-selling Best in Travel book is finally here, and the list of factors they took into consideration when making their picks included the destination’s topicality, unique experiences, and “wow factor”.

Cameroon emerged as the top choice among the countries just in time for the 65th anniversary of its independence, thanks to its pristine beaches, vibrant cities, and unspoiled national parks. Lithuania, Fiji, Laos, and Kazakhstan are also among the countries worth visiting in 2025, according to Lonely Planet.

Toulouse, France was chosen as the No. 1 city for 2025, and it’s been described as “a maze-like city overflowing with art galleries in repurposed industrial spaces, excellent food, and scenic river and canal banks” by Lonely Planet.

As for the regions you shouldn’t miss for the world in 2025, Pondicherry in India is leading the way, along with Bansko in Bulgaria, Chiang Mai in Thailand, and Genoa in Italy.
