Europe has some of the world’s best slopes for skiing and snowboarding. Unfortunately, getting a chance to experience those slopes often comes with a hefty price tag.
However, this doesn’t mean you should give up on skiing in Europe this winter. If you don’t have the budget for Switzerland’s St. Moritz or France’s Chamonix, there are some cheap places that will still provide you with a great skiing experience.
Bardonecchia, Italy
Bardonecchia consistently ranks as one of the best places for skiing in Europe when it comes to getting value for your money. It has cheap food and accommodation while also offering day passes for less than $50. You’ll find a variety of slopes suited for beginners as well as slopes offering a more challenging experience.
Borovets, Bulgaria
Borovets is one of Bulgaria’s largest ski resorts, with more than 35 miles of slopes, mostly suited for beginners and intermediate skiers. It offers day passes for around $53, with accommodation and food being quite affordable by European standards. The ski resort has a modern infrastructure and is considered great for families. As a bonus, you will be an hour’s ride from the country’s capital, Sofia, which definitely deserves a day trip.
Orelle, France
Orelle is considered a hidden gem of France’s skiing offering. While this small village itself doesn’t have spectacular slopes, it is connected to Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys), the largest linked ski area in the world, with a gondola. This means that you can enjoy the cheap accommodation in Orelle while also experiencing premium slopes.
