All Dyne Suh wanted was to go on a nice ski trip to Big Bear with her friends last February. She was not causing anyone harm or stress over this trip because her entire trip was perfectly planned, including the air bnb house that her and her friends were planning on staying at.
Shortly before the friends arrived at the air bnb, Suh and the owner, Tami Baker got into a slight dispute through the air bnb app. The dispute was over Suh asked if she can have some additional guests. Baker ended up canceling the reservation. Baker told Suh that she would not rent to her if she was the last person on earth. She then says “One word says it all. Asian.”
Suh obviously told Baker that she would complain to air bnb about this conversation which is when Barker wrote, “It’s why we have Trump … I will not allow this country to be told what to do by foreigners.”
Recently, Baker agreed to pay a $5,000 fine and attend a class in Asian-American studies. She also agreed to personally apologize to Suh and perform community service at a civil rights organization.
Suh says “I hope that more victims of discrimination will feel encouraged to come forward with their own stories. Your pain is not insignificant and you are not alone.”
