Artist Creates Intricate Tiny Worlds in Glass Tubes

on

We’ve all seen ships inside bottles. But we bet you’ve never seen an entire world inside a test tube. That should be expected, since that isn’t something you see every day, or a feat any artist could pull off, but that’s precisely what makes these magical marvels so special.

They were made by Rosa de Jong, a Dutch artist who makes little floating worlds that we all want to live in. Using a variety of materials ranging from sticks brought in by her pet cat, rocks from the Caribbean, and sand from the Monument Valley, de Jong meticulously crafts entire scenes comprised of everything from houses and tents to trees and water towers inside small glass test tubes. Her miniature creations are part of a series called Micro Matter. These days she’s also setting up her own shop online, so you can hope to own your personal miniature world very soon.
