Finding cheap flights seems like an impossible mission during the holiday season. But thanks to Google, it doesn’t have to be.

In a recent “2024 travel trends” report, Google shared a number of helpful insights that can help passengers get the cheapest holiday flights. This included crunching the data from previous years to determine how many days in advance you should book the flight in order to get the best price.

Best Time for Cheapest Thanksgiving Flight

According to Google’s data, the best time to book a flight for Thanksgiving is 45 days before departure, while low prices can still be found between 26 days and 59 days prior to your journey. The recommendation is to start browsing in early October. 

Best Time for Cheapest Christmas Flight

You will need to get your booking sorted out in the second part of October if you want to score a cheap flight for Christmas. Historically, the prices of Christmas flights have been at their lowest 58 days before departure. The flights are expected to remain affordable in the range of 36 to 72 days before departure as well.

Best Time for Cheapest Flights for Other Holidays

Google recommends booking a Spring Break flight 44 days before departure for the cheapest price.  If you are looking to enjoy a summer vacation domestically, you should book a flight 21 days before departure. Finally, for a trip to Europe, you need an early booking, since the prices are cheapest 94 days before departure and can get only expensive later on.
