Before you tuck your suitcase back in the closet, let’s give it a little attention. Cleaning your suitcase might not be the first thing on your mind post-vacation, but it’s a small effort that can make a big difference in keeping your suitcase functional for longer. Here’s how to clean your travel buddy inside and out.
Vacuum the Interior
Using the upholstery attachment, gently vacuum the inside of your suitcase to remove dust, lint, and other small particles. Pay special attention to the seams and corners, where dirt often accumulates. This step is particularly important for soft-shell suitcases, which can harbor a lot of dust and debris.
Wipe Down Surfaces
The cleaning method depends on the material of your suitcase. For hard shells, a simple wipe-down with soapy water and a microfiber cloth can do the trick. For fabric exteriors, use a fabric cleaner and a soft brush to gently scrub away dirt and grime.
Clean the Wheels and Handles
Wheels can collect a lot of grime and even small stones. Remove any debris from the wheel housing with a small tool like a toothpick or tweezers. Clean the wheels themselves with soapy water, scrubbing with a brush if necessary. Wipe down telescopic handles with a damp cloth.
