Traveling is an exciting experience no matter what. However, for some people, the thought of heading to the tourist hot spots just isn’t appealing. Being surrounded by thousands of people all there to see the famous sights might not feel challenging enough, so if you’d rather test yourself in a more extreme spot, then here are some of the most remote locations across the globe.
Tristan de Cunha, South Atlantic Ocean
This island makes the impressive claim of being the most remote place on the planet that people live on. At a huge 1750 miles from Cape Town (South Africa), this island can only be reached by boat and this trip takes 6 days.
Easter Island, Chile
Most people know this fascinating location for the awe-inspiring huge stone heads that are dotted across the land. As well as being home to these iconic monuments, this island also happens to be incredibly remote at 2,200 miles off the coast of Chile, and 1,200 miles to the nearest island.
Devon Island, Canada
This island is not inhabited by anyone other than teams of research scientists. Some of these scientists are there to imagine what life would be like on Mars, which gives an insight into the unfavorable conditions of the island.
Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland
Many know Greenland to be a super remote country, and this tiny settlement is the perfect example of this. It’s frozen for 9 months each year, and for 600 miles around it, there are no inhabitants.
